DESCRIPTION:Glennis Dolce will present a lively and informative view of textiles of Japan based on her own personal collection and travels to Japan leading the Silk Study Tour since 2009. A shared slideshow replete with many images from her collection as well as stories about the textiles\, where they were collected\, what to look for when buying vintage Japanese textiles will be part of the presentation. The variety of materials & textile techniques include silks\, cotton\, hemp and shibori\, indigo\, katazome\, meisen\, boro\, and more. \n  \nThis program is free to all Active PenWAG members; registration and login information will be sent via electronic communications. \nGlennis is ALSO doing a Zoom-based workshop in the afternoon to create a Mermaid Necklace. Glennis originally called this the Mermaid Necklace when she first made and sold them. It reminded her of fancy seaweed and we all know mermaids like beautiful things and swim with seaweed adornments! \nIt’s not difficult but takes a little time (can be completed in about 3 hours) and the kit includes everything you need to complete it.
