Mayumi Fujio: Simulcast Program: Natural Dye and Botanical Printing

www.mayumix.com

Have you ever seen a stunning flower, vine, mushroom, or leaf in nature and wished you could capture its beauty in cloth, to wear or display at home? Join us for a talk and a demo with fiber artist Mayumi Fujio who lives in the Bay Area creating silk scarves, wall decorations, and art to wear garments using natural dye and real leaves to print their pattern.

Mayumi taps into the inspiration she gets from nature—she is always looking at flowers, mushrooms and plants wherever she goes. Her latest series is a combination of mushroom dye and botanical prints, and her art pieces are sold at the Seattle Art Museum, ACCI gallery in Berkeley and other prestigious art fairs around the Bay Area.

During this presentation, she will talk about natural dye using plants, mushroom and botanical printing.
