Online Workshop | Karin Graves : Murmurations Made Beautiful
In this afternoon online workshop, you will be able to create your own murmuration. Using pieces of previously painted linen, Karin helps you visuaize shapes and designs that you can develop, and then stitch in her special method.
Using her two-way applique, you will stitch along painted lines to develop one cohesive design – a layered piece rich in texture, depth and weight, The resulting 2-sided piece, about 8.5 x 11in size, is awesome, resembling feathers on a bird, can be incorporated into a garment, or even done on a large scale for a complete piece.
A $20 kit with materials you will need must be ordered by Sat Feb 15!
WORKSHOP MATERIALS LIST:
- Workshop kit ($20 kit with materials you will need must be ordered by Sat Feb 15.) Kit contains specially hand painted linen scraps that will be used for the applique secret stitching.
Ordering information is below. - Your sketchbook and selection of soft mark making pencils, eraser and a large piece of graphite if you have it. No need to buy anything new. Please do not bring a tiny sketch book as you will need elbow grease. You’ll need 15 pages or so, and anything over 6 inches will work.
- 10 used magazines YOU LIKE–architecture, food, fashion, national geographic, ranger rick. All magazines will cut up.
- transparent tape
- masking tape
- scissors for both paper and fabric
- sewing pins
- favorite hand sewing needle
- SEWING MACHINE with white and black thread for both bobbin and spool.
