    Margaret has painted and adorned fabric for costumes for the Lion King, Hadestown, Moulin Rouge, Wicked, Aladdin and many more. With over 30 years experience painting for Broadway shows, dance, arena events, ice shows and film, She will talk about the process – from a designer’s painted sketch, through samples, fittings, painting, paint corrections, to a finished costume. She specializes in applying metallic decoration on fabric and other surfaces. and will share sketches, working with drapers, white fittings, painted fabric samples and completed costumes.     An online (zoom) workshop. (Note there are now different prices for all PenWAG workshops for in-person vs zoom attendance.)
    The use of foil is unique and fascinating! Participants will use glues and transfer sheets to add metallic interest to an existing garment or fabric that they provide. Margaret will guide with ideas and processes unique to using foil as well as other materials, including methods to use foil on both woven and stretch fabrics.     Linda Schmidt is an acclaimed textile artist specializing in wearable art and quilting. She will show a variety of wearables that incorporate both standard and new techniques, using many ideas and methods from her own experience. Linda will put on a fascinating trunk show that is sure to inspire us all. Her philosophy about garments is that the garment should reflect your own personality, be comfortable, be washable, truly wearable, unique, and make you feel beautiful, no matter your size or shape. This is a simulcast (live and Zoom) hybrid seminar. If you'd like to volunteer to model some of these garments, please let Judi Seip, PenWAG’s Program Chair, know! (programs@penwag.org). Using a wide variety of fabrics, fibers, and various non-fabric materials, make a beautiful bag that is an artistic treasure.  Linda Schmidt will guide us through not only making the bag, but also using a variety of decorative and functional products, some of which would be new to each of us.  She is extremely knowledgeable about products that many of us may be unaware of, and will have various materials available.
